In recent years, Guizhou Province has proposed to build Shidong into the "second Xijiang (the national famous tourist village of the Miao culture)" in order to achieve the transition of the festival tourism of Shidong into a perennial event. According to the specific circumstances of Shidong, Taijiang County positioned it as a cultural tourism business town; to this end, the provincial, prefectural, and county levels of government have stepped up investments in the development of Shidong.
