Later, in January of 2003, Briggs and Stratton purchased additional registered capital shares for 31 million USD to acquire 95% of the JV and changed the name to Briggs & Stratton (Chongqing) Engine Co., Ltd. The total investment into the company was 52 million USD making Briggs & Stratton (Chongqing) Engine Co., Ltd. one of the top foreign investments in Chongqing.
